We offer full 3D CNC milling. We machine:
- aluminium
- copper
- brass
- engineering plastics
- display plastics (acrylic/plexiglass, polycarbonate, Dibond)
- wood
- plywood
- MDF
- OSB
- HDF
- vermiculite
We specialise in making thermoforming moulds. Moulds are made from aluminium (for longer runs) or MDF (for runs of a few to a dozen or so pieces).
We machine 3D parts from solid model files (preferably .IGES or .STP).
CNC milling is a machining method that uses a computer and a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine to turn raw materials into precise shapes. It is a widely used process in many industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical, electronics and many more.
The CNC milling process starts with a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) file containing the design, which is then processed by CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software into a program sent to the CNC machine. The machine then cuts the material, finishes the edges and drills holes where required to create the exact shape of the product.
A CNC milling machine uses a special cutting tool, called an end mill, to machine the material. End mills come in various shapes – cylindrical, tapered, ball-nose, pointed and so on. Depending on the type of tool, the CNC machine can produce a wide range of shapes and details.
CNC milling makes it possible to cut high-quality shapes with great precision. This allows the production of parts with very tight dimensional tolerances that meet the requirements of the most demanding industries, such as aerospace and medical.
CNC milling is also faster and more efficient than traditional methods such as manual cutting. In addition, CNC machines offer much higher repeatability and shape accuracy, which is essential in series production.
CNC milling machines can process a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, wood, ceramics, stone and even composites. Depending on the material of the part, different types of cutters and machining parameters are used.
In recent years, CNC milling technology has advanced rapidly, making production even more efficient while lowering costs. AI (artificial intelligence) technologies are increasingly used as well, helping to optimise the machining process and minimise costs.
In short, CNC milling is an advanced machining method that enables precise cutting of shapes and details.
